My Weekend Family Bonding and Treasure Hunt

Happy Monday! Yes I just said "happy" and "Monday" in the same phrase. I love Mondays because for me they are freer days. I only babysit for three hours and teach one class. It's almost like a day off!

This weekend was an absolute blast!! After a month of packing, moving and remodeling, we finally finished moving my granny across town to be closer to my parents. This weekend we had a huge moving/garage sale, and my family came from Oregon and Washington. Even though we were hard at work most of the time, the visiting and bonding was fantastic. I have the most wonderful family!

Here are my lovely Aunts and Uncles taking a break. They and my parents are all long-time married couples. I'm a lucky girl and have excellent models for a happy and sustained marriage.

I also found many treasures and memories as we dug through and priced my Granny's things. I know we were supposed to be selling things, but I wound up with a whole box of things to take with me...and an end-table...and a mirror.... and this awesome hat-scarf combo!

Look at this guy! I didn't take him with me. A local highschool teacher bought him for a classroom. She seemed like the kind of teacher everyone loves and remembers forever.

My Granny has always collected elephants, and, since I love them too, I am the one in charge of taking over her "herd." This makes me extremely happy and grateful. My granny and I are very similar, so I feel especially connected to her. These similarities are a blessing as I inherited her passion, vivacity and her love of literature and animals. It's dangerous in that I also got her stubborn streak and that irritability that explodes into a volcano. The good thing is I can identify it when it starts and learn from her.

Here are a couple elephants that I snatched up last minute as I kept finding more things. I'm collecting items for a nursery. Kids are definitely not on the radar for a few years! But, as a nanny, I see how expensive baby things can get, so I've decided to accumulate pieces over time. Plus, I'm absolutely in love with these two. The pink box was in my nursery as a baby. I know - cuteness overload!

So, last week there was no menu plan, and I apologize. The reason was because last week evenings were crazy! I subbed yoga until 8:00 pm two nights, we had family arrive in town and Jonny got a full-time job along with full-time school! So it was more of a fend-for-your-self, frozen pizza and snacking week. I will devise a solution menu-plan for other weeks like this. This week's menu plan will be posted as soon as I get Jonny's work schedule. I did buy a beautiful spaghetti squash, so I know that will be on the dinner table soon.

Have a happy week!
